The Zurich Film Festival took place for the first time in October 2005. Within a few years, it has established itself in the national and international festival landscape. Since the first edition, the festival has grown continuously.

In the three competition categories Focus Competition, Feature Film Competition and Documentary Film Competition, up-and-coming filmmakers (first, second or third directorial work) each compete for the main prize, the Golden Eye. With its Focus Competition, the ZFF places a special emphasis on filmmaking from the film countries Switzerland, Germany and Austria. Out of competition, the ZFF presents the most anticipated films of the year and the most beautiful discoveries. It presents young filmmaking from a burgeoning film region (New World View) as well as thematically focused series such as Border Lines and Series. Supporting events such as the ZFF Academy, the Zurich Summit and the Film Music Competition make the ZFF an attractive networking platform.

Tickets and passes are available on the website and at other advance booking offices.
