The 19th Zurich Film Festival came to an end on Sunday evening, 08.10.2024. Despite the beautiful weather, it recorded 130,000 visitors. A total of 150 films were shown, 52 of which had their world or European premiere – more than ever before. Stars such as Jessica Chastain, Ethan Hawke, Mads Mikkelsen and Diane Kruger captivated film fans, and the new Frame cinema with its six screens proved to be a crowd puller.
“It was a very nice edition with star guests such as Jessica Chastain, Ethan Hawke, Diane Kruger or Mads Mikkelsen, who were enthusiastic about Zurich and expressed this on their social media channels,” explains Christian Jungen, ZFF Artistic Director. Despite the beautiful weather, the ZFF recorded 130,000 visitors, which shows that the enthusiasm for cinema is still great. For 102 of the 150 films, the directors were present and gave an introduction. “This is very much appreciated by the audience. ZFF is going into the coming year with a lot of drive and optimism, celebrating its 20th anniversary.”

The centre of the festival is Bellevue with its iconic pavilion on Sechseläutenplatz. International stars, world premieres and film fans will be bringing our neighbourhood to life during this time.
